Inspired by a tradition handed down by their father, Antonio Cerda, and embraced by the family Masia, 2010 became the year that Antoni, Pau, and his wife Teresa Cerdà, set out on an adventure to create a contemporary quality wine with a vision of the future.
The winery is placed inside the beautiful 14th century Masia Can Boquet, located near the town of Alella, surrounded by vineyards only 20km from Barcelona. Here tradition coexists with the latest winemaking technology used to produce small quantities of quality organic wines, with a great personality.
Vineyards are planted in different locations. The ones planted in Alella are located low-lying near the sea, open to the influence of the sun and Mediterranean breezes. The microclimate is typically Mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters. The vineyards are laid out in terraced plots and the wines produced in this area are soft and lower in alcohol and acidity.
Vineyards planted in Vilassar de Dalt are located at the highest part of the Serralada Litoral Natural Park (at 300m above sea level). The temperatures here are cooler and there is a greater contrast between day-time and night-time temperatures. The microclimate is more continental and the wines have greater acidity and energy.
The soil is sauló, a sandy soil of granitic origin. It is highly permeable and can retain solar heat very well.
Grapes are selected by hand in the vineyard, and then gently pressed, with only the free run juices used. Fermentation is temperature controlled to ensure the vilification is very well managed.
The wines produced are left to rest in the Masia’s old cellars, a selection is aged in French, Central European and American new oak barrels. The white varieties planted are Pansa Blanca (genetically identical to Xarel.lo) and Garnacha Blanca. While the reds are Syrah, Grenache Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Monastrell.
Through experimenting with these variables, Bouquet produces quality wines, reflecting the winery’s single-minded objective of bringing out the quality of the native grape varieties.
Vineyards and wines are certified by the Catalan Council of Ecological Agricultural Production (CCPAE). This certification ensures that products always have been prepared following the rules of organic farming, which have been controlled in the entire process of production,
